Photographer Karsten Thormaehlen's portraits make the aging process seem a whole lot cuter.

Remember the stereotype that all grandmas are tiny and sweet, spending days baking cakes, playing Bingo and knitting? Well we're here to prove that stereotype wrong.

These heart-warming photos of seniors having fun prove that it's never too late to have a good time. And making time, making the choice to have fun is all that it takes!

There are a number of signs or clues to look for that may warn you that you are getting old. I have drawn up a list that I feel may help anyone with any doubts to identify for certain that they are finally "over the hill" and perhaps accept the fact that old age has finally arrived and that it is not so bad to have finally turned into the Grandparent that you once adored, (whilst possibly occasionally having a giggle at with the rest of your family!!!!)

Old is the new new.

Born in Den Haag in the Netherlands, Gerardus Jacobus Johannes Keizen enjoyed the attention of being photographed, says Thormaehlen. Keizen tugged at his hair and twirled his mustache as he prepared to pose. His secret for living so long? A routine life of moderation. Go to bed early, don't smoke, don't drink — although you can always make an exception now and then for a whisky. And for gin, too.
