Women may experience postpartum disorders during and after the birth of their child that can affect their mental health. A high influx of hormones may cause mothers to feel intense mood changes known as the baby blues which affects 80% of mothers. 1- Pregnancy can make a parent more susceptible to mental health issues. 2- There are many medications safe for pregnancy/breastfeeding! 3- Baby blues is short-term, relatively mild, and resolves on its own. PPD does not resolve quickly or without assistance. 4- 1 in 5 parents suffer from perinatal anxiety and 1 in 7 from depression. 5- While at a higher risk, PPD/PPA does not always reoccur.
