"Daydreamer" by Charles Hyman | 9-12th grade | Simpsonville, SC | ArtFields Art Competition This self-portrait is a strong piece juxtaposing the look of boredom with a contrasting background of whimsical doodles. Hyman was attempting to illustrate how outer appearances are not always telling the whole story. Charcoal and ink were used to create even more contrast between the two ideas happening in the work.

This is a self portrait I made with words to describe myself. After drawing the face, I chose words that best fit my character. Some words are written darker than others to indicate shadow/darker spots on the face or in the hairline. #words #wordart #drawing
