Vulnerability art

Artist Marcel Witte is a visual storyteller. He uses his paintings of nearly life size animals to criticize the contemporary society on a subtile way.

Here are some common ways in which we can engage in self-abandonment.

Kyuin Shim | digital sculptures

A woman's face is covered in cracks, as if made of brittle porcelain. Her right eye is open, revealing a tear running down her cheek. The dark background and the cracked surface create a sense of fragility and vulnerability. The image suggests a state of emotional distress or physical deterioration.

Pursuing her passion after hours, Andrea Farina creates intricate embroideries and gouache paintings and continues to experiment with a wide variety of mediums.

A piece I completed this evening. "A world self absorbed with itself. People going to a fro-concerned about only themselves. Amongst them walks a woman, naked, cold and vulnerable and no one offers comfort-not even an umbrella...I am uncertain if she reaches her destination but I would like to believe that someone, just ahead, will give her a coat, an umbrella and perhaps something to eat.."
