Dhokla or Dhokra is a vegetarian food item that originates from the Indian state of Gujarat. It is made with a fermented batter derived from rice and chickpeas. Dhokla can be eaten for breakfast, as a main course, as a side dish or as a snack.
Gujerati cuisine is known for its subtle sweetness. In many Gujerati recipes one will taste a hint of honey, sugar or jaggery. One of my favorites is this dohkla, which, while having no sweetner in the ingredients, is naturally mildly sweet.
