The Barbican is one of our favourite pieces of architecture in London because it was built on a very ambitious scale in an area that was severely damaged during WWII and is one of the few examples of idealised, high-rise living as it was intended to be.

The public terrace on the sixth floor of this shopping centre and ffice complex in the City, designed by architect Jean Nouvel, is well worth investigating for window shopping, skyscraper gazing and St Pauls wonderfully close.
