The Barbican

The Barbican is one of our favourite pieces of architecture in London because it was built on a very ambitious scale in an area that was severely damaged during WWII and is one of the few examples of idealised, high-rise living as it was intended to be.

The Roof Terrace Yes! The perfect location for you is the rooftop at the top of the new shopping mall at Number 1 New Change. www.onenewchange.com/11the-roof-terrace.aspx If somewhere high up (rather than a rooftop) is any good - no hassle from security guards - there is a great view from next to the statue of General Wolfe at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Someone has just suggested the public car park at Poland Street in Soho, central London but I've never been there.

The public terrace on the sixth floor of this shopping centre and ffice complex in the City, designed by architect Jean Nouvel, is well worth investigating for window shopping, skyscraper gazing and St Pauls wonderfully close.

Highbury & Islington pub with beer garden

One of the best pubs near my house- the Alwyne Castle in Highbury. Snuggle up with a large glass of wine in front of a fire, or get involved with the Tuesday night quiz while enjoying a plate of their amazing skin-on chips.
