Petty Officer First Class Jason Workman, age 31, had served in the United States Navy for the past eight years. A member of the elite Seal Team Six. He was killed in a Chinook helicopter when it was brought down by enemy fire. In total, 38 men were killed in the accident. The helicopter was ferrying the group of Navy Seals to a firefight involving Taliban troops and U.S. Army Rangers. The helicopter was arriving in the area when it was hit. They were killed instantly. R.I.P.

Navy PO1 (SEAL) Darrik C. Benson, 28, of Angwin, California. Died August 6, 2011, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to an East Coast SEAL team. Died of injuries sustained when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter he was in was hit by enemy fire and crashed in Sayd Abad District, Wardak Province, Afghanistan. PO1 Benson was with a large contingent of personnel en route to reinforce members of the 75th Rangers engaged in a fierce firefight.

Faas Died August 6, 2011 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 31, of Minneapolis; assigned to an East Coast-based SEAL team; died Aug. 6 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter in which he was riding was shot down.
