There's a pair of thokai fish, and they're out of water. Why else would they be caught among those polished Manipuri topa tops ---- the classic ring-reji framed one of (4) and the ball-jhur ball-jhuti of (2) ? Even (3) is a round design with striped half-cones radiating out from a faceted thokai beaded knob in the middle and appears to be inspired by a rotary engine, though how those can motivate anyone to art will remain a constant mystery.
So, this post closes the short series on Thokai Earrings though, technically, these are all not thokai and therefore have been labelled 'Assorted Earrings'. Fact is, only the one on top, a mini go-go dul, is a reji and wire affair ; the centre is a pair of cubed hand-struck hearts ; and the last one is a banded thokai kanbala with an enriched jade drop and half-topa tops. Each is a treat to wear and unbelievably light (a constant advantage with thokai), and also very sweet and stylish.
