Back in March I posted a review of Shelly Stokes's book Rubbing Plate Roundup, and ever since then I've found myself looking for new ways to use these tools. Rubbing plates, or texture plates can be used in so many different ways and along with many different media
stemming from the original Bauhaus, this Frottage Project is created by collecting rubbings and arranging them into a grid which helps students experience the modular system of the grid a fundamental aspect of Graphic Design. It takes a resourceful student to find a wide variety of textures to culminate in a strong result that is aesthetically pleasing.
