The doli ceremony is fast making a comeback in Indian weddings! The ceremony involves brothers of the bride shouldering a palanquin, taking her to the groom's house post the wedding. Very basic and convenient in the past, dolis are now customized, complete with flowers and curtains for the bride!
Nilavilakku - A lighted lamp stands for auspiciousness and is considered a welcoming sign. In a traditional Malayali wedding these play an integral role. You line them up in odd numbers (usually 3 or 5) in front of the wedding madapam (alter) and light them with oil and wicks.
