The Liverpool overhead railway
Who would have thought in 2013 a new and unpublished picture of the Liverpool overhead railway would come to light? Peter's picture is taken at an area known as Georges Dock Gates near James Street station. The train is a 27 from Seaforth and Litherland and is heading for Dingle. The railway opened in 1893 and closed 30th December 1956 a victim of the high cost of repairs. The road view gives a good snapshot of 1950's Britain, although not dated the latest it could have been taken is Summer…
