Over the years as a Girl Scout leader our troop has tried a number of different unique ways to run events and/or meetings throughout the year. I want to share with you in a 5 day mini series 5 different things we have tried to keep our troop exciting and keep the girls interested in being in Girl Scouts.
Take your girls on a hike and ask them to listen for birds and look for birds and any signs of bird nests. If you want to have the girls learn more about different kinds of birds they see a great bird guide that is for kids is the “Bird, Nests, and Egg Guide.” Of course remind them we do not disturb or touch nature, but let’s look and learn. After the hike go back to your meeting space or campsite and have your girls make a baby chick it could be any color maybe of one they saw on their hike.

t can honestly be a bit difficult to get kids excited about learning. Kids are stuck in school for close to eight hours a day, so it’s understandable that they’re going to have little-to-no interest in learning during their after-school activities. It can even be hard to get children to try new things as they are the type to not be interested in getting out of their comfort zone. As a troop leader, what can you do about this?
Helping your troop to put the money toward a big event will teach them how to fund anything they want in the future. Car washes are a super easy, great way to raise money in the spring or summer that can be super fun for your girls to participate in! So many of my favorite photos of my girl scout troop have come from our fundraising events. As spring draws close, I wanted to give you a step-by-step guide to help you run your own fundraiser without stress.
It’s the perfect time of the year to have a Hawaiian Luau. I’m going to make this party simple, but fun. We all know you need grass skirts and leis to make it traditional. Your girls can come dressed in shorts, capris, loose flowered or Hawaiian shirts, sundress, sandals or flip flops. If your girls want to be creative they could bring a plain colored shirt to a meeting prior, to the luau, and paint their own designs with flowers, palm trees, etc. Learn more >>&
