John-Richard Collection Rayna Wingback Chair

Giltwood armchairs hailed from many countries, over many decades, but all represent luxury, history and - in some cases - royalty. This type of arm chair, with elaborate carvings, originated in France in the early 17th century. We believe this edition dates from the mid-19th Century, done in the Rococo style of Louis XV, featuring an ornately carved frame, built up with gesso and wonderfully worn gilding.
