How to Repot a Monstera
Upon discovering ants sneaking inside from my deck and beelining to my Monstera, I decided to get rid of the soil and repot because I didn’t love the idea of ants in my house. Here’s how I went about it: • I waited until I had recently watered the plant so it would be less of a shock • I tried to be super gentle with the roots. I think of it as running my hands through my hair, trying to break as little as possible. • I rinse off the roots and plant to get rid of any hiding ants. This is also good to do if you’re dealing with fungus like root rot. You’d want to follow up by treating the roots with a fungicide and planting with a sterile pot and soil. • I really like using 1/3 potting mix (I used Fox Farm’s coco-loco), 1/3 orchid mix, and 1/3 perlite. • If you don’t already have
