Whole Tree Architecture
The concept of using 'whole trees' or parts thereof has multiple benefits. Of course, there is the visual impact, but did you know that natural timber is significantly stronger than milled timber? It's also cheaper if you are able to source it. The timber can be used as nature shaped it or can be moulded using heat and steam. Both retain the natural beauty and strength. City Farmer Sculpted Cob Oven
This is a terrific example of the sculptural possibilities one can achieve whn using cob. Sadly, the oven isn't very functional; the asymmetrical and tiny opening can't accomodate a decent sized pizza, and you have to really get down on your knees to use it. Still, a pretty sweet piece of work, and good job of marrying it with the bench.
