Africa | A Togu Na,"house of words" stands in every Dogan village and marks the men's social center. the low ceiling, supported by carved posts, prevents over zealous discussions from escalating into fights. The Togu na's are surrounded by symbolic meaning, often relating to fertility and procreation. Many of the carvings are of women's beasts for the Dogon proverb says "The breast is second only to God'. | Capiton and image © Jose Azel.
