‘Essex’ Artist: Walden Circa: 1950’s Origin: United Kingdom Today’s vintage poster is one of a series of posters commissioned in the 1950s by the British Railway used to promote rail travel, and advertise destinations. Essex is a county which was popular with day trippers and older vacationers in the 1950s but is now seen more as a London suburb than a holiday destination.
