Orange by Venus Winston This is an acrylic painting. I like that the artist did such a close view of the orange rather than the common image of fruit. The detail is incredible and it looks very juicy, the way an orange should. I love a bit of still life. This is what I came up with one day when playing with some paint and fruit. My fruit pics have been good to me recently. Entered them into a few competitions last year and they managed to get an honourable mention in the International Photographers Award 2008 for Fine Art - Still Life and was a nominee in the 3rd Annual Photography Master Cup (which I found out randomly last week when I was checking out who the winners were. 39 Amazing Photomanipulations

The most creative examples I could find of photo-editing wizardry. These are equal parts funny and disturbing.

Edward Weston

Is there a more iconic image than Edward Weston's Pepper? It's almost too famous to want to include in this list but Weston is the architypal photographer's photographer. His day books give insite into the mind of the photographer, warts and all. His work still remains modern just try to overlook the vanity and pomposity of the photographer himself.

Pop Art Master Oldenburg Unveils Another Big Idea

Claes Oldenburg unveils his latest outdoor sculpture — a giant paintbrush — outside the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia this weekend. At first, Oldenburg's giant clothespins and spoons made him a target for ridicule. But now you can find examples of his work all over the world. And like all of his work, it's intended to provoke a response.
