Jessie Searles received the YMCA Youth Character award of the year, based on 2013 service. She was the only recipient for McKinney, and 1 of 4 in all of Dallas metroplex. She did not apply but was nominated by the YMCA. It is based on leadership, philanthropy, community involvement etc
Four Boyd students were chosen to represent Texas this summer at the Conference on National Affairs in Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Congratulations to Samuel Lawrence, , Jessie Searles, Lexi Thorson, and Quentin Huevel. I know they will represent the state of Texas and Mckinney in an exemplary way and good luck to them.
Congratulations to Aaliyah Miller for winning Gold at state in her 800m record setting race (2:07.07 is the new record and the first state record by a McKinney Boyd track athlete). She turned around and ran the mile a couple of hours later and won gold in that as well. It was something to see.
1500 of 29,000 students who competed at Regionals traveled to Bryan, Texas to compete at the UIL State level Visual Arts Scholastic Event. 800 of those received 4’s , Exemplary medal winners. Please congratulate our Boyd students who competed this weekend. Sophmore Avery Edwards- Superior Rating of a 3 (graphite self-portrait) Freshman Ryan Dunayer- Superior Rating of a 3 ( watercolor mushroom portrait) and Senior Raahil Sha- Exemplary Rating of a 4 ( 3D cardboard sculpture)
Please congratulate the McKinney Boyd Broadway Broncos. The McKinney Boyd Broadway Broncos spent a 20 hour day representing Boyd at the Area UIL One-Act Play competition Monday. We are excited to announce that MBHS won the Area competition and has advanced to Region, a first in Boyd history! Zoe Aarts won Best Actress, Victoria Ecker won All Star Cast, Rachel Gatewood and Alex Joshi won Honorable Mention All Star Cast and Meagan McDermott won Outstanding Technician in the competition.
Congratulations to Tamara Taylor for being selected to receive the Master Advisor recognition for the Texas Association, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. This chapter is continuing to grow under her leadership and she will be recognized this Saturday at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference!! Congratulations for a job well done and we are extremely proud!
This past Saturday at the NTCA State Championships, the JV guard finished in 9th place in the Scholastic A class. With one of the most emotional and best performances of the year, the Varsity guard finished in 6th place amongst the best guards in the state. This year the MBHS guard took home 5 total top three finishes, 2 first place finishes, and were named finalist in the WGI Southwest Regional Championships for the first time in school history.
This past weekend the guard traveled to the University of North Texas to compete in the Winter Guard International Southwest Championships. For the first time in school history the varsity guard made it into finals. The Varsity performed beautifully on Saturday and placed 4th in their round earning a spot in finals amongst many of the best guards from around the state of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, and Louisiana.
