David Hockney, Telephone Pole, 1982. ////////// This photo uses elements such as color, value, and space. Principles include rhythm, movement, emphasis, and balance. This photographic collage is made up of pictures the artist took of an outside scene. There's a lot of different elements to look at in the piece. Some are easy to see, and some aren't so easy to figure out what exactly the object is. I'm not a big fan of this artwork because although it looks cool, it's kind of confusing. To…

Art - David Hockney is an artist who takes several pictures of the same place at different times. Then he cuts up those pictures and makes a collage. You can do the same thing with your students. Take photos of the smiling, frowning, silly, straight faced, and looking both ways. Then give them the opportunity to create their own collage. Idea found in Rafe Esquith's Teach Like Your Hair is on Fire

My Mother, David Hockney, 1982, photographic collage. The perspective on this is great. Again, students would be choosing a personal interest for their project and I would want them to photograph that subject in a place that meant something.

I like how this piece is a different shape. Also, it is cool how the framing is the sides of the bridge and how it's created to make your eyes move and end on the feet.

This picture is very appealing to me. I love how they used the same photo and lined up the tree in different spots to create a great and uniquely shaped image.
