Kolkata Metro, the first metro service in the country has announced a fare hike, which may go up between 25 percent and over 100 percent for various distances. The news fares will be effective from Nov 7, the railway board announced Wednesday.

The last train will, however, continue to depart from the New Delhi station at 11.30 p.m. and from Dwarka Sector 21 at 11.15 p.m..

Good news for passengers traveling on the Delhi-Kolkata Rajdhani express as they will be able to surf internet through Wi-Fi connectivity during the journey, a railway official said Tuesday. This facility will be launched by Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal at the Delhi station on Tuesday, said the official. The first lot of rails for Hyderabad metro rail project has arrived from France, announced L Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (LTMRHL). These 5,000 metric tons of rails will be laid down as tracks in the Uppal depot soon. The company in a statement here Wednesday said the rails were shipped to Mumbai and were transported by road on 60 feet special trailers to Hyderabad. Rails for the project are being procured from TATA Steel, France.

To foil any terror strike, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is planning to install 900 more CCTV cameras across the Delhi Metro network this year, its chief said Friday. "In at attempt to develop immediate attention to suspicious object or activities, the force is planning for the installation of 900 more CCTV cameras which will cover vulnerable areas across Delhi Metro," said CISF Director General Rajiv.

Female passengers will have trouble-free baggage scanning at Delhi Metro stations in new frisking booths, chief of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said. After several complaints of baggage theft, CISF is planning special booths where women commuters can watch their belongings while being frisked.
