This room reminds me of a book I read as a child. The name escapes me now but much of it was set in a Victorian house owned by an old explorer, and it was filled with curios and plants collected on his travels. Funny how an image can take you back so far with no warning, and wonderful how books stay with you, sometimes so quietly you don't even know they are there.... BDF

The dresser on the right was designed by Mercer for the room, and the pictures above it are from his extensive collection of prints, more than one thousand of which hang on the walls of Fonthill.

Love the arches! The ceilings and the gorgeous window! This place belonged to Henry Chapman Mercer, Ceramicist, Fonthill, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Beadboard ceiling put over popcorn. I've always wanted to do this! or.... in my case, an old folk victorian farmhouse from the mid 1800's that has cracked, settled, patched, repatched and just plain messed up...this would be so pretty!
