The Original Way leaves the forest and joins the AS-14, just before the dam, of Grandas de Salime. There is a sharp descent prior to the dam, and a steep climb afterwards! This is on the sixth stage of the Camino Primitivo.

The walled road you see here is the Camino San Roque, or the TI-1. It is incredibly scenic, looking out over the valley as it goes toward Tineo. I didn't even mind going back to the pavement, with this beautiful distraction. This was on day four of the Camino Primitivo on the way to Santiago de Compostela.

The Ermita de la Virgen del Carmen was a Franciscan community for pilgrims in the 13th-17th centuries. The 13th century Church of Santa Maria was restored in the 17th century and is now a national artistic monument. (Gothic with a Baroque retablo dominated by impressive Santiago Matamoros). However, we were not able to see inside. This is just before the town of Vilabade on day nine, Camino Primitivo.
