Sombrero Beach - The beach is a white sand arc with lots of amenities: grassy lawns shaded with palm trees, changing rooms, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, grills, a playground. Good place to snorkel, particularly in several areas where the shore is lined with rocks. Favorite with locals because many visitors don’t know it’s there. Turn south at MM 50 at the light (Publix Shopping Center) and follow Sombrero Beach Rd about 2 miles to the end. Plenty of parking.
Hawk's Cay in the Florida Keys - one of my favorite vacation spots. I can sit for hours looking out into the channel that surrounds the island watching for little sharkies and other fish. Sharkies: technical term for adorable little sub-four foot sharks.
This is an image of Key Colony Beach, FL, one of the many 'keys' of the Florida Keys. I lived here for 99.9% of my life. The 'Keys' mentality is that of an autonomy lifestyle. Do everything at your own pace and time. The epitome of 'island time'. This free mentality sets for a more tranquil and inspires more forms and variety of play (since they're not much to do but swim and fish lol). I wish to one day go back and live in the Keys.
