In 1946 Robert Goelet offered his hundred room Ochre Court to his daughter at Vassar; the latter turned it down with the statement that even the thought of living there oppressed her. Finally in 1947 Goelet gave up & delivered the cottage to the Roman Catholic Church for a girl's college.
