Olivia supoorts local farmers, ranchers, foragers and artisans with their menu, designed by chef/owner James Holmes. The restaurant was named one of the Top Ten Best Restaurants by Bon Appetit in 2009. Happy Hour lasts all night at the bar from Sunday to Tuesday.
Foreign & Domestic is known for it's playful, innovative take on food. They are walk-in only, open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Tuesdays are dollar-oyster nights with $2 cans of beer while supplies last (which is never very long, so get there early).
Jack Allen's Kitchen is run by chef Jack Gilmore, a staple figure at farmers markets in the Austin area. The restaurant has two locations—Oak Hill and Round Rock. Their food captures Southern-inspired flavors that reflect the seasonal bounty in Central Texas.
Barley Swine is the sister restaurant to South Lamar newcomer Odd Duck. Opened by Chef Bryce Gilmore, the space prides itself on working with a long list of farmers and ranchers. The menu is small, so if you're not on a tight budget, we recommend bringing friends and ordering everything.
Blue Dahlia Bistro serves fresh, simple food using local and organic ingredients in a charming setting. They have two locations, one in East Austin and another in Westlake. Happy Hour runs from 3–6 p.m on weekdays.
