Jesus Appears in Newry 1992 Sean Hillen : 100 Works www.goldenthreadg... There are two photos in the background taken by me in the early 80's of a row of garages very near my childhood home. The horrible figure in the foreground is a spread from a bonkers (to me) 'you too can be in the SAS' magazine, and I had it for years before making this. When I showed it to a dear friend on whom I used to test pictures she said "I can't look at that" which I understood completely.

St. Michan’s, a Catholic Church (Dublin) dating back to the 11th century, where you get to walk right up to these in the crypt. Rumour has it that Bram Stoker, who has relatives buried in the church’s cemetery, went down into the crypts to get inspiration for Dracula.

Grace O'Malley was a tough 16th century Irish warrior woman who led a horde of broadsword-swinging Vikings, Celts, and Scottish Highlanders in naval operations that would dominate the coast of Ireland for a couple of decades. Known to her contemporaries as "The Pirate Queen of Connaught," this estrogenocidal ginger gunslinger raided shipping vessels, battled English armies, conquered castles from rival Irish clans, and once traveled to London just so she could talk to Queen Elizabeth.
