Vivian Maier: New York, NY, 1953 Vivian Maier (February 1, 1926 – April 21, 2009) was an American street photographer born in The Bronx, New York. Although she was born in the U.S., she spent much of her youth in France. She returned to the U.S. in 1951 and worked as a nanny and care-giver for the rest of her life. Maier took photographs in her spare time over the years 1949-2000, which amounted to over 100,000 negatives from mostly New York and Chicago.
