The Proprietary House in Perth Amboy, New Jersey is the only Proprietary Governors's mansion of the original thirteen colonies still standing. The home was occupied temporarily, 1774-1776, by Royal Governor, William Franklin (the son of Benjamin Franklin). He was arrested on June 19, 1776 by the Committee of Safety of the Provincial Congress of New Jersey, taken to Princeton for trial, and imprisoned in Connecticut.
The Great Falls of Paterson, which stand 77 feet tall. The hydroelectric plant to the left was constructed in 1914 and provided hydroelectric power until 1969. The building was restored in 1982 and provides power to Paterson today. Discover more history at www.thehistorygirl.com
