Marigold flowers are a important Day of the Dead symbol. These yellow flowers are referred to as the flower of the dead, the traditional flower to honor the dead. In Spanish they are known as cempazuchitl, cempasuchil or zempasuchitl.
Marigold are extremely easy to plant from seeds. Collect the dry seed pods in fall. Store in paper bag. In the spring plant directly in the soil inch deep. When the plant gets 4 inches tall, cut it in half - this will product a fuller plant.
