Dance of the Drunken Master - Groove Collective. While it has its moments, if it had turned out that Chicago had been incapable of producing hits, they would have been these guys. I guess my problem with this Acid Jazz sound is that it is too close a cousin of Smooth Jazz. Meh.

R - That was a crazy game of poker lyrics. Not sure what it is about this song but I could listen to it all day :) love it

Miles Davis - Bags' Groove

Whoa, what a GREAT recording by an all-star lineup. Dylan and I jazzed it up good this morning on the way through cold and gray Southern Chester County.

Jimmy Smith – Got My Mojo Workin’ (1966) – The incredible Jimmy Smith was a jazz musician whose improvisational brilliance on the Hammond B3 electric organ popularized it as a jazz and blues instrument. He also brought his improvisational style on the organ and his unique, grunt and moan, vocals to both 1960s soul and jazz. He is one of my all-time favorite jazz performers. I bought this album on vinyl while I was in HS and still enjoy it. I listened to it on CD again today, 4/11/2014.

Pugwash - Jollity (2005)

They are an Irish pop band who have been around since the late Very minimalist sound with instrumentation that seems to fashion them after ELO. More down tempo cuts than not. Not unpleasant at all.

T for Texas: Texas Blues Masters, Vol. 1 - Various Artists. Old school rhythm and blues. Johnny Winter sounds like he's about 16 on 'Gangster of Love.' A couple of great Gatemouth Brown cuts as well.

Radiolistener Remixes - Various Artists. Interesting mix of remixes and other good tunes. It even includes a cover of "Don't Let Me Down." I'm listening to the rest right now in my office.

U.P. Wilson - Whirlwind. Loved his guitar. Sounded great as I slipped and slid onto campus.

Hammersmith Odeon, London '75 - Bruce Springsteen. Listened to disc 2 of this great live set. Bruce and the band in their prime, the soundtrack of my youth. Good stuff for a top down ride to work in early October.

Not bad for a rainy drive. Think Talking Heads, Wham, and "Sour Girl" from Stone Temple Pilots all rolled into one post-psychedelic pop recording.

ZZ Top - The Beginning of ZZ Top. I listened to disc 2 of this set last week and never posted it. This one includes cuts from the bands the boys were in previous to ZZ Top. Yeah, it goes back some time.
