Sidartha more widely known as Gautama Buddha, was a sage whose teachings founded Buddhism. He taught mostly in Northeastern India.  It is said that at age 29, Sidartha left his life as a prince to see his subjects.  He decided to go out and learn teachings of many different hermit teachers.   He was able to achieve high levels of meditative consciousness, and asked to succeed his teachers.  But he was not satisfied and moved on.
