Christmas tram in St George’s Road circa 1970, on its way to West Preston. This tram – W7 class 1024 – was one of the advertising cars used in traffic by the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (M&MTB). It was a tradition for the M&MTB to decorate one of its trams to celebrate the festive season. Photograph from the FOHTD collection.
I pinned this because I forgot how closely the streetcars use to pass each other. You would never want to stick out your hand while passing one as you might just lose it. They'd fly by one another and were so loud. It was just so normal to me. Now it's weird!
