Never known for modesty, Marc said “I picked The Damned to tour with me because I wanted to put the best of the established bands against the best of the new wave bands, so we’ll see who can out-punk the other every night” (source: interview with Phillip Crawley published in The Journal, March 18, 1977). BACKSTAGE PASS - 1976. Future HOLLY & THE ITALIANS! (L-R) Marina Del Ray, Ché Zuro, Holly Beth Vincent & Joanna "Spock" Dean.. They were one of the earlier LA Punk bands.  They had a Farfisa organ & sang harmonies.. Jake Riviera (STIFF) met them at a party for The PRETTY THINGS at Jane Mansfield's house & really convinced them to start playing shows. Their first was w/DEVO & they played w/all the local bands like BAGS, EYES & X. They split by 1978 & Holly & Steve Young went to the  UK.

KAREN UMPHREY - 1973 Star Magazine # 5. STAR was a controversial "Foxy" Magazine about music, fashion, advice on how to find a "foxy" dude + interviews with the bands & groupies in the  LA "scene" in 1972-3. Their cover models were all local Glitter & Hard Rock groupies.  "Concerned citizens" shut 'em down after 5 months.
