Indian bhuj, likely originated in Bhuj, a city in the Kutch district of Gujerat, broad lightly recurved blade with substantial back edge, finely inlaid with silver vinework en suite with the steel haft, gilded copper mounts, including a bolster in the form of a fully-modeled elephant’s head set with four gems, and an urn-shaped pommel which unscrews to reveal a concealed dagger, velvet covered scabbard with embossed and engraved gilt copper.19th century, length 53.4 cm.
