Batman: The Movie (1989) - This was responsible for me turning over the most ludicrously bad piece of homework ever (a story about Robinson Crusoe falling in a volcano, in 7 lines), as this was waiting for me when I got home from school. Based on the first Micheal Keaton Batman movie, this was legendary. Sideways scrolling beat 'em up, driving, flying the batwing, ding dong, it had it all! Quite easy to complete, but played again all the same.

The Trap Door (1986) - Trap Door the show was amazing, never missed it, so the computer game, by jingo, I think I might have been sick through excitement. Huge colourful graphics, your task as the main guy Berk was to prepare food for the Thing Upstairs. This involved the use of object placement and some handy beasties from the trapdoor (example, plant some eye seeds, grow some eyeballs, put them in a vat, get a jumping monster to squash them into juice. Nice)! An awesome game

The Great Escape (1986) - Ok, I loved this game. I was only 6 years old at the time, had no idea what was going on, and just liked running away from the Nazis and hiding in the tunnel under the stove, but who cares. The mono graphics were amazing for the time, and walking around at night trying to avoid the search lights, brilliant. A classic arcade adventure of using the right objects at the right time to try and do a runner from the Boche.

Ghosts 'n Goblins (1986) - Another one that stayed in my mind from the arcades of Clacton, this was a sideways scrolling shooter, with you as a knight lobbing knives, lances and firebombs at all manner of bothersome meanies as you rescue a probably ungrateful princess. A great little game, if frustraing, when some baddies just suddenly rush towards you and there's bugger all you can do about it. Great graphics for its time, and when you get hit, your armour flys off, so you fight in your…

Zombi (1990) - A lesser known game, this was more or less a game adaptation of Dawn Of The Dead. Four survivors in a shopping mall fighting off zombies, before being beseiged by a gang of Hells Angels. A creepy game with no music, badly drawn objects with no descriptions as to what they are (e.g. looks like a sperm, actually an ignition key to a truck), and instant death in certain rooms, but still strangely compelling. One of those games where you wonder how on earth anyone ever solved it.
