The Indochina War started by the colonialist France against communists in the colony(Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos). In May 1950, US decided to aid France in the Indochina War. In March 1959, North Vietnamese began war(the so-called 2nd Indochina War)with US.US military deployment took place in Dec 1961. In 1975, US lost the Vietnam War; Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) fell to the North Vietnamese, paved way to total US withdrawal from Vietnam, North & South Vietnam being reunited in 1976.
