Of the invitation de Kooning said they treat the artist “like a sausage, tie him up at both ends, and stamp on the center ‘Museum of Modern Art,’ as if you’re dead and they own you.” He did however agree to the retrospective a few years later.
Designers Anne Tarasoff and her daughters, Gail Tarasoff-Sutton and Karyn Tarasoff, fell so hard for three different blue-and-white wallpapers from Thibaut that they dreamed up a series of rooms around them. “The patterns work so beautifully because of the similar colors,” says Tarasoff-Sutton. “They really help tie the spaces together.” The third annual Holiday House Hamptons, a showhouse presented by HC&G that benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
