"Teaching is a creative profession, not a delivery system. [Very effective] teachers do [pass on information], but what [they] also do is mentor, stimulate, provoke, engage. You see, in the end, education is all about learning. If there's no learning going on, there's no education going on." -Ken Robinson via TED talk "How to escape education's death valley"
If you've got Scottish roots, or you're a self-proclaimed Scot-o-phile, then today's the day to celebrate! April 6 is the 15th-annual National Tartan Day, when the over 11 million people of Scottish and Irish heritage within the United States are celebrated for their contributions to the country. This date was chosen to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath on April 6 in 1320, which asserted Scotland's sovereignty over English territorial claims.
