I'm a fan of both Jody Foster and science fiction films, and the first third or so of the film was promising. But the dialogue and conflicts are shallow, the movie is way too long, and the denouement and its aftermath are downright silly. This one is only for really hardcore fans of Foster or the genre.
Jody seems like most young men finding their way in their 20s. He appears to have it all --- job, friends, women in his life. But there’s another side of Jody, and we learn that he’s been scarred physically and emotionally by his childhood. There’s a troika of women here, all of whom see only the best in Jody, but is it enough to keep him on the path to happiness --- and to help him discover the emotion that he lacks an understanding of, which is love?
Really enjoyed this author's writing style and the subject of the book was captivating. It felt like the ending wrapped up a bit too quickly and neatly though. I'll definitely check out others by this author (who lives close by in Merriam, KS!).
