St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) entered an order of contemplative Carmelite nuns despite strong opposition from her father. She suffered greatly from illness, and is remembered as a great mystic who wrote of how God desires to be found within the "interior castle" of every soul. She is one of only three female Doctors of the Church.
Pier Giorgio Frassati's generosity was legendary. He often gave the clothes he was wearing to poor people he met who were in need. An open anti-fascist, a keen sportsman and mountaineer, an enthusiast of the theatre and literature, and a young man with a great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, he stands as a great example of Christianity in action.
