Theatre Row When the 20's Were Roaring Denver's infamous "Theatre Row" ran along Curtis Street from 15th to 19th. The first theatre, Apollo Hall opened in 1859. By 1914, the "Great White Way" (named for the millions of lights up and down the street) boasted 66 venues featuring Vaudeville acts, operas, moving pictures. In between theaters and movie houses were soda stands, cigar stands, restaurants and dance halls.
