First Grade with a Cherry on Top: Behavior Management- The Clip System {Freebie}

One of the most important parts of running a successful classroom is having a solid classroom management system that works for you.

Task 5- Positive expectations- Positive Reinforcement- I think it is really important to take the time in your day to do little things like this and also verbally reinforce students postively many times through out the day.(Obviously only when it is deserved) This build a good student teacher relationship and a positive environment.

Teacher Notes~ Pick six students every Friday and write them a special note on their desks for them to find Monday morning. Keep a list and start again when everyone in the class has been done. But use sticky notes instead!

Pick a reward for the day and each time a child displays the appropriate behavior you turn over a card to reveal the prize!

Motivation for the class. Each time they are given a compliment or caught for good behavior a student flips over a letter to reveal the reward. (can do this with numbers and once they reach a say 30 compliments, students choose a behavior reward/party)

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT IDEA. Power Pellets - "Anytime I call out "Power Position" the students have to stop what they are doing, fold their arms, and look at me. The first one to do so quietly will get a Power Pellet (aka, one skittle). Seriously teachers, THIS WORKS! I don't even really yell the words, I just simply and casually say them and they stop. It's magic what one Skittle will do for a kiddo!"
