One of the best books I have read in many years, well not since Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes. While one is memoir and the other fiction, both are unflinching in their description of a life lived. There is remorse but there is no redemption. Only transcendence and the awareness of how individual guilt can threaten the notion of another's meaningful life.
