Iolani Palace is the only Royal Palace on US soil. It was originally built for King Kalākaua and lived in by his sister/successor Queen Lili‘uokalani - the last Royal Ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii. She abdicated in 1893 and the United States took control of Hawaii as a territory until it became the 50th State in 1959 (yes, 18 years after Pearl Harbor!).  It would be meaningful to me to take my family to see the only Royal Palace on American Soil.
