According to the Australian Aboriginal people of Arnhem Land, Julunggul is a Rainbow Snake Goddess, who oversaw the maturing and initiation of boys into manhood. She was a Fertility Goddess, associated with Rebirth and the Weather. She is also known as Kalseru. Another name for this Deity, Yurlunggur, is also the name of an extinct genus of madtsoiid snakes (Yurlunngur), specifically named after the Goddess.
