It is estimated that he was involved in as many as 60 fatal poisonings of patients and colleagues across several states, some as early as his time in medical school. He had also served 4 years in prison for poisoning coworkers. Swango only admitted to 3 deaths. He plead guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
