Six Years With God: Life Inside Rev. Jim Jones's Peoples Temple by Jeannie Mills. I read this in college while I was doing a research paper on the Peoples Temple cult. It was fascinating and horrible all at the same time. I've always been fascinated with the tragedy if Jonestown and this book is a peek into the Peoples Temple before they left for Guayana.
In November 1988, The Oprah Show reunited former members of Rev. Jim Jones' infamous religious organization, the People's Temple. Ten years earlier, more than 900 members of the People's Temple drank a poisonous cocktail laced with deadly cyanide. It was the biggest mass murder-suicide in modern history and was masterminded by Jones. This tragic event is now known as the Jonestown massacre.
A 1978 photo of the People's Temple Agricultural Project in northwestern Guyana, also known as "Jonestown", led by cult leader Jim Jones. On November 18, 1978, 909 cult members died by "revolutionary suicide" from cyanide poisoning, orchestrated by Jim Jones, and five other people were murdered by Temple members.
