Gimme a Break (I'd completely forgotten this show! I can still see Nell Carter strangling the vacuum...)

A nouveau riche, African-American family who move into a luxury apartment building develop close, if occasionally fractious, relationships with other tenants.

The Jeffersons is an American sitcom that was broadcast on CBS from January 18, 1975, through June 25, 1985, lasting 11 seasons and a total of 253 episodes. The show was produced by the T.A.T. Communications Company from 1975–1982 and by Embassy Television from 1982–1985. The Jeffersons is one of the longest-running sitcoms in the history of American television.

"All in the Family" was both a controversial and groundbreaking show, which debuted as a mid season replacement on CBS January 12, 1971. It became a most influential show in television history and made a impact, changing American TV standards forever. All in the Family was a pioneer in changing TV satire into a more realistic, frank and hard hitting piece of entertainment.

The Jeffersons premiered in January 1975 and was an immediate hit with audiences and ultimately ran for eleven seasons. For her role on the series, Isabel Sanford earned five Golden Globe Award nominations, and seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations. She won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1981, making her the first African American actress to win in that category.
