tumble ringwing is a native species of tumbleweed, unlike the tumbleweed of western movies (which didn't live in the west at the time the movies portray)...ringwing can be this shade of red, all the way to deep purple...and then late in the winter turn golden (especially in early morning light)
The BIG SPRING - located just south of the city of Big Spring, in Howard County Texas at the Comanche Trail Park. The spring was for thousands of years a watering place in a dry land for Indians, buffalo, and wildlife. From the late 18th through the 19th century the spring was virtually owned by the Comanche. Several branches of the Great Comanche War Trail funneled to/from the Big Spring as they rode south to raid northern Mexico.
